On 9th February, in the presence of Archdeacon Colin Williams and others, the members of the Board of the Anglican Church in Greece (Canon Malcolm Bradshaw of Athens, Rev’d Philip Lambert of Crete, Rev’d Julian Wilson of Corfu and Churchwarden, Marie-Jeanne Morphy Karatza of Patras) met for their first meeting in Athens. On Sunday 19th February it was officially announced that the Rev’d Canon Leonard Doolan has been appointed to succeed Fr. Malcolm as Senior Chaplain in Athens. He will take up the post on 1st July. The interview, chaired by Bishop Robert the Diocesan, was held in Athens on the 9th February. Churchwarden Nigel Daniels and Susan Stephosrepresented the Chaplaincy on the interviewing panel.
On the second and third Wednesdays of January Community Connect in Athens and Kifissia met to celebrate the New Year by cutting the traditional Vassilopitta – the Cake of St Basel (New Year’s Cake) whose feast day falls on 1st January.
Before Christmas Fr Malcolm was invited by Apostoli (the welfare organization of the Orthodox Church) to visit the refugee camp on the edge of Rafina. READ MORE
