Community Connect Athens

Community Connect Athens has been running for many years as a monthly Coffee Morning whereby members of the community can meet up in a warm and safe place to comfortably sit, chat and have a cup of coffee and a slice or two of cake.  Anyone is welcome and many people who find it difficult to get out on a daily basis make a special effort to come to these Coffee Mornings and catch up on all the latest gossip and news.

More often than not we have a Raffle for 50 cents a number or Mini Bingo for two euro a game, and someone will always be seated on the “Lucky Chair’! Special occasions during the year are marked with a themed decoration or cake –New Year – Cutting of the Vasilopita (New Year’s Cake), Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween and of course Christmas – Cutting of the Christmas Cake.  Birthdays are also celebrated in a spirit of warmth and friendship.READ MORE

Divine concerts in the church. ‘Athinorama’ praises the depth & variety of St Paul’s concerts.

For some years now the Anglican church of St. Paul’s has been one of the most interesting concert venues, mainly for classical music. The last two years electronic or pop mood music has also been held there, making it one of the main attractions for the fans of contemporary music.

It might not draw the attention as one passes outside, on the corner of Filellinon and Amalias street, but the inside of St. Paul’s is certainly compelling with the light refracted through the impressive stained glass windows and the music which can be played on the oldest church organ in our country. This is the reason why for many years concerts for classical music have been traditionally held in this historical church in the centre of Athens and also at specific times of the year, like the spring cycles of organ concerts.READ MORE
