  • Payments should include your name, the description “Summer Raffle” and your email address, so that we know who is sending, for what purpose and to let you know if you win a prize! We’ll then email you with your ticket numbers. The draw will be done in the Church garden after the service on the first Sunday following the close of the Raffle (date to be announced). Ticket holders are invited to come along and maybe collect a prize.  If you are a winner but can’t be there, or if we are obliged to do the draw via Zoom, winners will be notified by email.
  • Prizes can be collected during daily opening hours (10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday) or during coffee time after the 10 a.m. Sunday liturgy, on presentation of the email you received giving your ticket numbers. The winner will then sign to confirm receipt of the prize.  Please note: prizes will be kept for a fortnight (2 Sundays). If not collected during that period, they will be entered into a forthcoming raffle. In the event of a lockdown, the fortnight counts from the date the church reopens.

Updated Covid restrictions and Social Distancing regulations – a message from our Chaplain

Dear All

 As you know I have been trying always to ensure that our compliance with Government COVID restrictions conform to legal interpretation from our lawyer, Mrs. Papatsori.

I was able to speak with her this morning. Nothing has changed yet in terms of 1 person per 15sqm inside the church – double masking. Outside we should be 2 metres away from each other, seated.

Free self-testing for those ‘essential for the worship’ has now ended. Instead a Vaccination certificate is required – either the Greek one or the EU COVID passport, proving that the individual is vaccinated (or a CPR test, 72 hrs before, or a more recent negative self-test.) I have to hold a copy of this certificate in the church. People around the altar, the Wardens, and Sidesperson, should provide one of the forms of certification in order to undertake their duty. The same is required for those attending the Swedish Mass.

Coffee after the service is still not permitted – ‘by analogy’ (the phrase used by the Government regulators) coffee would have to be at tables, no one standing, tables socially distanced, ‘coffee servers’ masked and tested. Clearly we cannot comply with this as yet. Let’s hope for the future….

The Government seems keen to progress by encouragements or advantages towards vaccination. We will see how this affects the churches.

the quiet waters by.

and me to walk doth make
within the paths of righteousness,
e’en for his own name’s sake.

 

3 Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale,
yet will I fear none ill,
for thou art with me and thy rod
and staff me comfort still.

 

4 My table thou hast furnished
in presence of my foes.
My head thou dost with oil anoint,
and my cup overflows.

 

5 Goodness and mercy all my life

Easter Lilies

A big thank you to all those who donated 130 lilies in memory of their loved ones. you can see the virtual lilies above and below, the  beautiful flower arrangements that were placed in the Church for Easter Sunday.. The names of your loved ones are given below and will also be written in the Easter Book of  Remembrance, which will be available to view in the Church when it re-opens.

Priest:        Eternal God, who made this most holy night to shine with the brightness of your one true

light: set us aflame with the fire of your love, and bring us to the radiance of your

heavenly glory: through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Renewal of Baptismal Vows

Priest:         As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead, we remember that through the paschal mystery we have died and been buried with him in baptism. To follow Christ means dying to sin and rising to new life with him. Therefore I ask:

 

Priest:         Do you reject the devil and all rebellion against God?

All:              I reject them

Priest:         Do your renounce the deceit and corruption of evil?

All:              I renounce them

Priest:         Do you repent of the sins that separate us from God and neighbour?

All:              I repent of them

 

Priest:         May the light of Christ, rising in glory, banish all darkness from our hearts and minds.

In baptism, God calls us out of darkness into his marvellous light. Therefore I ask:

 

Do you turn to Christ as Saviour?

All:             I turn to Christ

Priest:        Do you submit to Christ as Lord?

All:              I submit to Christ

Priest:        Do you come to Christ, the way, the truth, and the life?

All:              I come to Christ

Dr John Kittmer receives an award from the Greek Ambassador to the United Kingdom

From the Anglican congregations of Athens and Greece, our sincere congratulations to Dr. John Kittmer, former Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Greece. John was awarded the honour of Grand Cross of the Order of the Phoenix by The President of Greece for his work as Chairman of the Anglo-Hellenic League, based in London. The photograph shows Dr. John Kittmer (left), receiving his award, with the Greek Ambassador to the United Kingdom (centre), and Professor Paul Cartledge (right), who incidentally taught John Kittmer when he was at Cambridge.
